It was my second In-camp training (ICT), which just happened to be my second high key as well. The night before, I was neither excited nor anticipating anything. Just moody and nothing else. I didnt know many people in the coy. I was newly posted to the company, just for the exercise in the previous ICT.
I woke up at 6am. Dad will be driving me to NeeSoon camp and reporting time was 8am. I reckon I have lot of time as I strongly believed people will be late (I turned out to be correct on that). But ya, due to my very gancheong Dad, I was early, yet again.
The baddest news I got once I reached NeeSoon, was that the ICT will be in Sungei Gedong. A bus was catered to drive us there. Despite all the waiting (Rush to wait and wait to rush!!), the bus NEVER arrived and we resorted to taking a 5-tonner (Army's toy to transport green-men).
Reached SG camp at 1pm (Yeah! All the blardy wait from 7+! -.-). It was a long ride. A very long ride in fact. Low morale ~~ There goes my 'book-out everyday'. I will not be able to reach back in camp at the stated book-in timing. Be it 7, 730 or 8. Never will I, if I take public transport and I know the taxi fare will KILL... Literally KILL!! The only contentment: The camp is new. New buildings, new bunks, new beds.
Suay man.. kanna advance party and was in camp 3 days earlier than the others to do up all the shit jobs and filled up all the shit holes, just to make the whole ICT a more enjoyable one, FOR THE OTHERS!! Well.. I'm a benevolent person, so, 造福群众吧!
ICT was exciting in my opinion. Although it blardy became so hot in the first week and rained during the second when I am having exercise outfield, the whole thing turned out to be fun. I got to know the company better and got along quite well with my fellow sergeants (surprisingly). Especially my section commander. He's a funny guy, really funny! He was also the one who ferried me to and fro home. Thanks to him, I managed to get home everytime I had the chance. Of course, not forgetting my CQ too ^^. Thanks all ^^
Time flies when one gets busy. I verified this once again. 3 weeks of ICT ended as fast as it started. Soon, it was the stupid battalion cohesion again. Cohesion my arse. When the company sweat like siao, where are the HQ officers? Sitting there, brain wrecking thinking of more shits for us -.-ll
Really.. Some of the trainings were really shit. Why must we still lay Class 30? For those who dont know, Class 30 is a track which idea I believed was generated from a toilet roll, which I was told 6 years ago that it will be scrapped, which my other pioneers and sergeants were told some 10 years back that it will be scrapped. But tadang!! It resurfaced because WE are going to lay the track for some g'ment minister to walk on. The laying is really a chore and keeping it is double the chore! Thanks officers -.-ll By the way, 2 out of 3 Class 30 we had, were spoilt and the only surviving one, is really surviving hard.
Back to the cohesion. We will be having BBQ and my platoon (arrowed!) was supposed to set up the pit. We were told to wash the trays used to contain black tank fuel and used it as the holder for charcoal (Lucky we no camera, or Stomp will have more things to say)!!! Despite our protest that it is unhealthy and not safe, the higher order remained. No choice but to wash the trays as clean as possible, with as much detergent as possible. The battalion 2IC walked past us and reassured us that they had did that before and everything will be alright. (My arse!) We did not touch the BBQ food that night. So, should I say we were lucky to be arrowed to wash the trays?
Finally last day. Out processing day ^^ We were supposed to out-pro at 1030, but due to the childish and stupid act of ONE (or maybe a group) person, we were held back to assist in investigation and ultimately, shared the cost among the whole unit. So what happened? Well, that childish person went to pour acid on another person's car. -Faint-
The whole ICT was supposed to be great, if not for the last few events. But I must admit, I did enjoy the crowd and talking to people in the working society. Getting to know them more and hearing their stories, really excites me. But coming next year, we will be assessed on our unit's proficiency. ARGHHH... As a result, I still drag going back for ICT!!
PS: I failed my 2.4km, yet again :(
